Hi everybody! Erik here, and I come from a background of many wonderful people, family, and friends! I am blessed to have both my parents, a younger brother by blood, and plenty of spiritual family as well! I was born in Everett, WA, but was raised in my hometown of Layton, Utah, where I spent much of my youth. Ever since age 13, and these following 7 years, I have persuaded myself to connect with Childcare Services, which has been such a blessing! I've had 4+ years of experience in childcare, and let me tell you, it was so much fun! I had a blast! I believe there are so many kids out there who need male influences in their lives, or just sometimes big brothers to watch and guide them. Babysitting is a way for me to show my love and appreciation for the children. To connect with them, and be there when they need me. Children are such blessings from God, and he's really led me in the right paths throughout this starting of my life! My uniqueness would have to be my Charisma that draws people to me. They love being around me and vise-versa. My experiences have always been blessed, and when it's time for me to part with the families, it's hard on all of us. But to know that when I part, that I leave that joy and happiness for them to remember me by!
Rule #1: I NEVER hit children or cause to bring harm upon them! That is a BIG "No-No" in my book! Children should receive praise and encouragement for good actions, and well as step-by-step teaching and quality fun! Time-outs and Correcting Instructions are used for unpleasant behavior. I will never raise my voice in tough times, but I will be stern when addressing the children. The children do not like being upset, and I do not like seeing them upset. That's why I will usually create "Win-Win" situations so that everyone is happy! Even though my discipline works wonderfully, I usually use the Parent's form of disciplining first if it does not include Physical harm or abuse. The children are used to that, and I don't mind combining my discipline with the Parent's at times.
I focus on what the Parents have already completed or are completing with the children in educational values, and continue on from there. Mind games are wonderful for the children as well as adults, because it gets them to think and consider, such as Riddles, Puzzles, and Picture games. Outside sports are physically used to get the children to use their energy, muscles, and to keep them up and healthy, such as swimming, soccer, and playgrounds at the park.
